Webcam Security was built for a rented apartment and a drawer full of old phones.
Every time I left a place for a few days I wondered whether anyone was coming in. Security cameras wanted a monthly fee, a cloud account, and a copy of every frame of my home on their servers. Meanwhile a perfectly good phone sat unused, with a camera, a speaker, and Wi-Fi.
So I built an app that runs entirely on that phone. It watches for movement on the device itself, and the only place the evidence goes is a Telegram bot that you create and control. No servers of mine in the middle, no subscription, no account. You pay once, and the camera is yours.
Detects movement on the device
The camera is analyzed on the phone itself. Gradual light changes, like sunrise, are filtered out. On iPhone, Apple's Vision framework also recognizes people, on the device.
Siren that scares intruders
A loud alarm plays when someone is detected. You can turn it off or keep it silent in Settings.
Photo burst and short video
Three photos, keeping the sharpest one, plus an optional 15-second clip in standard quality. No audio is ever recorded.
Alerts to your Telegram
Evidence goes directly from the phone to your own bot, so it is safe even if the phone is taken.
PIN-protected disarm
Arming is one tap. Disarming, and silencing the siren, always requires your PIN.
