A weekend hike, three iPhones, no signal.
I was on a trail with two friends and we kept losing each other in the trees. No cellular, no Wi-Fi, no point shouting. We had three iPhones in our pockets — capable little radios — and yet no native way to talk to each other unless we paid for a subscription, signed up for an account, or had a working cell tower.
Walkie-Talkie is the app I wanted that day. Open it on two iPhones near each other. They find each other automatically. Hold the big button to talk. Release to listen. That is the whole product.
Indie-built, no accounts, no servers, no telemetry. Just the two iPhones in your hands.
Auto-discovery, no setup
Devices running the app find each other automatically over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi P2P. No pairing codes, no QR codes, no logins.
Push-to-talk, real-time
Hold the big button to transmit. Release to listen. Latency is typically under a quarter second for nearby devices.
Group chats up to 7
Multipeer Connectivity supports up to 8 peers per session. The app mesh-connects everyone within range simultaneously.
Voice effects for fun
Pick Robot, Helium, Monster, or Radio to transform inbound audio. Each device picks its own effect — applied on the listener side.
Works without internet
Hikes, camps, basements, road trips, classrooms. Wherever there is no signal, the iPhones talk directly to each other.
Private by design
Audio is encrypted device-to-device by Apple's MultipeerConnectivity and never leaves your local link. No server sees your voice.
Indie-built. No strings attached.
Walkie-Talkie has no subscription, no In-App Purchases, no ads, and no paywall. Download it, use it, keep it.
