Getting started

How do I create my first communication board?

Open the app and tap the + button to create a new board. Give it a name (e.g., "Greetings" or "Food") and choose an icon or color. Then tap Add Button to start adding communication buttons to that board.

How do I add a button with a custom photo?

When editing a button, tap the image area and choose Camera (to take a new photo) or Photo Library (to pick an existing photo). The photo is saved inside the app only — your photo library is not modified.

The first time you use either option, iOS will ask for Camera or Photo Library permission. You can also grant or revoke these permissions in Settings → Privacy & Security.

How do I record a custom voice for a button?

Open the button editor and tap Record Audio. Press and hold the record button, speak the message clearly, then release to stop. You can play back the recording to check it before saving.

If you have not granted Microphone permission yet, iOS will prompt you at this point. You can manage microphone access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

How does text-to-speech work?

Every button that does not have a custom audio recording uses Apple's built-in text-to-speech engine to speak the button label aloud when tapped. No internet connection is required — speech synthesis runs fully on-device.

You can adjust the voice, speed, and pitch in the app's Settings screen.

Can I organize buttons into categories?

Yes. You can create as many boards as you need and organize them by theme or situation (e.g., "At school", "Feelings", "Food and drink"). Swipe or tap the board selector at the top of the main screen to switch between boards.

Privacy and data

Does TouchTalk Pro collect any personal data?

No. TouchTalk Pro collects zero personal data. The app makes no network requests. Your boards, photos, and audio recordings never leave your device. See the full Privacy Policy for details.

Where is my data stored?

All data — vocabulary boards, button photos, audio recordings, and preferences — is stored in the app's private sandbox on your iPhone. It is not synced to iCloud, not backed up to any server, and not accessible to other apps.

Your data may be included in your standard iPhone backup (iCloud Backup or Finder/iTunes backup) if you have backups enabled in iOS Settings.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Deleting TouchTalk Pro removes all app data — boards, photos, recordings, and preferences — permanently from your device. There is no way to recover data after the app is deleted unless you restore from an iPhone backup.

We recommend using your iPhone's built-in backup before deleting the app if you want to preserve your boards.

Troubleshooting

The app is not speaking when I tap a button.

Check the following:

  • Make sure your iPhone's volume is turned up and not on silent (the physical mute switch on the side).
  • If using a custom audio recording, verify the recording is not empty by opening the button editor and tapping Play.
  • If using text-to-speech, make sure the button has a non-empty label.
  • Restart the app and try again.
The camera or photo library button is grayed out.

TouchTalk Pro needs permission to access your camera or photo library. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera (or Photos) and make sure TouchTalk Pro is set to Allow.

My boards disappeared after updating the app.

This should not happen during a normal update. If your boards are missing, please contact us immediately at christian@irack.mx with your iOS version and the previous app version you had installed. If you have an iPhone backup from before the update, you may be able to restore your data via Finder or iTunes.

The app crashes on launch.

Try the following steps:

  • Force-quit the app (swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then swipe the app away) and reopen it.
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Check the App Store for a pending update to TouchTalk Pro.
  • If the issue persists, contact us at christian@irack.mx with a description of your device model and iOS version.
