Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Stackcut (hereinafter, "Stackcut" or "the App") is developed and operated by Ingeniería.dev, led by Christian Irack (hereinafter, "we", "the Developer"), who is the controller of the data described in this policy.

2. What data we collect

The App is designed to work without knowing who you are. It:

• Does not require registration or an account, and has no login of any kind
• Never asks for your name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information
• Keeps your projects, the media you import and your exports only on your iPhone (see Section 3), with no cloud storage and no sync
• Never uploads your videos, photos or text to any server
• Contains no advertising, no ad networks and no third-party tracking or attribution SDKs
• Does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, because it does not track you across apps or websites
• Never sells your data

What the App collects is limited to anonymous usage and diagnostics data that is not linked to your identity, through our own first-party analytics. Section 5 lists exactly what that includes — and what it never includes.

3. What is stored on your device

Everything you create in Stackcut lives on your iPhone:

Your originals are never touched. Deleting a project removes its edit and its imported media copies from your iPhone; the originals in your photo library stay as they are. If you have iCloud Backup turned on, iOS includes the App's data in your backups, under your Apple account; the App itself does not use iCloud sync or any other cloud. Deleting the App removes everything it stored on your device permanently and irreversibly.

4. Your photo library

• Importing. You pick videos and photos with the iOS photo picker, which runs outside the App. The App receives only the items you choose and has no read access to the rest of your library, so it never asks for permission to read it.
• Saving exports. To save a finished video to Photos, the App asks for add-only access: it can add new items to your library but cannot see, read or change anything already there. If you decline, you can still share the video with the share sheet.
• Metadata. The App does not use the location of the media you import, and never sends your media or its metadata anywhere.

5. First-party analytics

We use our own first-party analytics to understand how Stackcut is used: screens visited, interactions, performance and technical errors, plus technical device data, language and approximate city-level location (we do not store your IP address). The App has no sign-in, so this information is never linked to an account or to your identity. We do not sell or share this data with third parties or use it for advertising. Data is kept for up to 13 months. You can request deletion by emailing [email protected].

5.1 What exactly is measured

• Product interaction: the screens you open and these actions: completing the welcome screens (and whether Photos access was allowed), creating a project (with its canvas format), importing media (how many videos and photos), adding text, splitting a clip, starting, completing or canceling an export (with its resolution, frame rate, format, number of layers and how long it took), saving to Photos, and changing the language.
• Sessions: when the App opens and closes, and how long it stays in use.
• Technical data: App version, iOS version, device model, language, time zone and screen size.
• Approximate location: country, region and city, derived by our server from the network connection. Your IP address is not stored. The App has no location permission.
• Diagnostics: performance data (such as launch time), handled technical errors (only a generic error domain and code), and crash and hang reports.
• A random installation identifier generated by the App. It is not derived from your hardware, it is not the advertising identifier, and it is deleted when you delete the App.

Analytics never include your videos, photos or audio, frames or thumbnails, the text you type, project or file names, the location or metadata of your media, or your name, email or phone number. The App's analytics events are a fixed list in its code, so your content cannot be sent by mistake.

5.2 Who runs it and why

The analytics service runs at analytics.ingenieria.dev, on a server operated by the Developer. No third-party analytics company receives this data. We use it only to improve the App — for example, to learn which export settings are used most and to find and fix crashes and failed exports. For users in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and improving it; you can object at any time by emailing us.

5.3 This website

The pages at legal.ingenieria.dev/stackcut/ use the same first-party analytics to count visits and clicks on the download button. They set no cookies; a random identifier is kept in your browser's local storage, which you can clear at any time from your browser settings.

6. Apple and the App Store

Stackcut is a paid download with no In-App Purchases. The purchase is processed exclusively by Apple through your Apple ID. Apple acts as the payment processor: we never receive your name, email, payment card, billing address, or any other payment data. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. External services and links you choose to open

The App talks to only one server of ours: the analytics service (Section 5). Your editing and exporting happen entirely on your iPhone. There is no other server behind the App.

Some buttons hand off to another app or website. These are always initiated by you and are governed by that provider's own privacy policy — not ours:

• Share: opens the iOS share sheet; the exported video goes only where you choose to send it.
• Save to Photos: adds the exported video to your photo library (Section 4).
• Email: opens your mail app with our address filled in.
• Instagram: opens the developer's Instagram profile.
• Rate on App Store: opens the App Store.
• Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and Support: open these pages, or Apple's Standard EULA, in your browser.

8. System permissions

The App can request one permission, and it is optional:

• Photos (add only) — to save your exported videos to your photo library. If you decline, the App works the same and you can share your videos instead.

The App does not request access to: reading your photo library, camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, reminders, Apple Health, motion data, Bluetooth, or biometric data.

9. Marketing and advertising

The App displays no ads. We do not use data for remarketing, profiling, or advertising. We do not participate in ad networks, and we do not sell, rent, or share information with third parties.

10. Children

Stackcut is a general-purpose video editor and is not directed at children. It requires no registration and collects no personal information that identifies a person.

11. User rights (GDPR, CCPA, LFPDPPP, LGPD)

You have the right to access, rectify, delete, and object to the processing of your data. Here is how each one works in this App:

• Right to access: Your projects and media are visible to you directly in the App. For the anonymous analytics data, email us.
• Right to rectification: You can edit or rename any project at any time.
• Right to erasure: Delete a project from Projects (its imported media copies are removed with it), or delete everything by deleting the App. Analytics data is deleted automatically after 13 months, and you can ask us to delete it sooner by email. Because it is not linked to your identity, we may ask for details (such as the approximate dates you used the App and your iPhone model) to find it.
• Right to object and to restrict processing: Email us to object to analytics processing, or decline the Photos permission. The App keeps working.
• Right to portability: Export your projects as standard video files (MP4, HEVC or H.264) and save or share them wherever you want.
• Right not to be subject to automated decisions: No decision affecting your legal rights, employment, credit, or insurance is made from any data the App handles.

12. Security

Local data is stored inside the iOS sandbox, protected by the operating system and by device-level disk encryption (Apple's Data Protection API). No other app can read it. Analytics events travel to our server over HTTPS, and purchases are handled end to end by Apple.

13. International transfers

Our analytics service is operated by the Developer and hosted in the United States; analytics traffic passes through Cloudflare's network. This data is protected in transit with HTTPS, is not linked to your identity, and is never shared with third parties beyond what is described in this policy. Purchases are processed by Apple under its own privacy policy. Your projects and media never leave your iPhone through the App.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or to applicable law. The current version will always be published at this URL along with the date of the last update. Material changes will also be announced inside the App.

15. Governing law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the United Mexican States, in particular the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP), without prejudice to the mandatory rights you have under the data protection laws of your country of residence. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Mexico City.
