How to use Smart Map Fit

Set up your first epic
  1. Open the Journey tab
  2. Choose your starting point: type a place in the search field, or tap the map to drop a pin
  3. Choose your epic destination the same way. It must be at least 50 km from the starting point
  4. Tap Trace my epic. The App calculates a route between the two places and draws it on the map

Tip: placing a pin doesn't move the map, so you can keep exploring. Double-tap to recenter on the current pin. Tracing needs an internet connection; if it fails, tap Retry.

Log the kilometers you trained
  1. On the map, tap + km
  2. Use the chips (+0.1, +0.5, +1, +5, or ) to set today's distance. A preview of the new stretch appears on your route as you adjust it
  3. Tap Confirm to save it and watch your line advance, or Cancel to discard it

Any activity counts: the gym, a treadmill, a stationary or outdoor bike, running, or walking. Entries are recorded for today's date.

Milestones and countries

The App celebrates when your line reaches 25%, 50%, and 75% of the journey, and when it crosses into a new country along the route. When you reach your destination, you'll see a summary with your total distance, training days, and countries crossed — and you can start a new epic.

Review or delete an entry

Tap History on the map screen to see every entry you logged and your total. Delete an entry there and your progress line updates to match.

Change the starting point or destination

Tap the ••• menu next to your progress and choose Change starting point or Change destination. The route is re-traced for the new place and your logged kilometers are kept. You can also touch and hold a pin on the map and drag it to a new spot.

Reset metrics or delete an epic

From the ••• menu: Reset metrics clears every kilometer logged on the route but keeps the route itself. Delete epic permanently removes the route and all its entries. Both ask for confirmation and cannot be undone.

Change the language

Smart Map Fit is available in English, Español, and Português (Brasil). Change it from the About tab. The change applies immediately and persists across sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Does Smart Map Fit track my location or my workouts automatically?

No. The App never accesses your location (no GPS), your motion sensors, or Apple Health. You enter the distance of each workout yourself, which is why it works with any machine or activity. The route on the map is your virtual journey, not where you actually are.

Do I need an internet connection?

You need a connection to load the map, search for places, and trace or re-trace a route. Your journeys and workout history are stored on your iPhone and are never uploaded.

Do you store my data on any server?

Never. Smart Map Fit has no backend of its own, no account, no analytics, and no ads. Your journeys and workouts stay on your iPhone. To draw the map and trace a route, the App sends only the places you choose to Apple Maps and to a public OpenStreetMap routing service — never your name, your location, or your workouts. See our Privacy Policy.

Why doesn't the App ask for any permissions?

Because it doesn't need any. You pick places by searching or tapping the map, and you type in your distance, so there's no reason to access your location, notifications, or health data.

Why does part of my route look like a straight line?

Routes are calculated from OpenStreetMap roads and trails. Where no road or trail connects two points — across an ocean, a strait, or a remote area — the App bridges the gap with a straight segment so your epic can still continue. Route distances are approximate.

The route couldn't be traced. What should I do?

Check your internet connection and tap Retry. The routing service is shared and can occasionally be slow or busy; waiting a moment and trying again usually works. If a specific pair of places keeps failing, email us with both place names.

How do I delete all my data?

Use Delete epic from the ••• menu to remove a journey and its entries, or delete the App to remove everything permanently. Nothing remains on any server of ours because nothing was ever sent to one.

Do I have to pay anything?

No. Smart Map Fit is free, with no In-App Purchases, no subscription, no ads, and no paywall.

Does Smart Map Fit work on iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch?

Currently iPhone only.

Which iPhones are supported?

Any iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
