Educational awareness, not medical advice Poison Check is for educational awareness, not medical advice. Always consult a healthcare professional before making decisions about your diet, allergies, or health.

How to use Poison Check

Scan a product label
  1. Open the App and point the camera at the product's ingredient list
  2. Hold steady so the text is in focus and well lit
  3. Capture the label — the App sends it for analysis and returns the breakdown in seconds
  4. Scroll through each ingredient to see its explanation, risk flags, and sources
Tips for a good scan
Review your scan history

Every product you scan is saved locally on your device so you can revisit it later without re-analyzing. To remove an entry, delete it from within the App. Uninstalling the App clears the entire history.

Region-specific regulations

If you allow approximate location, Poison Check detects your country to show which ingredient regulations apply where you are. This uses coarse location only — it is never used to track you. You can decline this permission and still use the App; you simply won't see region-specific rules.

Permissions

Why does the App need the camera?

The camera is the core of the App — it's how you scan a label to analyze it. The captured image is sent for a single analysis and then discarded; it is never stored permanently and is not saved to your camera roll. iOS shows a green status-bar indicator whenever the camera is active.

Why does the App ask for my location?

Only to detect which country you are in, so it can show the ingredient regulations that apply in your region. It requests approximate location, not precise GPS, and your location is never stored on our servers or used for tracking or advertising. This permission is optional.

I denied a permission — how do I enable it?
  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Scroll down and tap Poison Check
  3. Toggle Camera or Location on

The App keeps working without location; the camera is required to scan.

Privacy & data

Do you store the photos I scan?

No. When you scan a product, the image is sent securely to our analysis backend (poison.ingenieria.dev), processed to read the ingredients, and then discarded. We don't keep a library of your photos, and the request carries no account or personal identifier. See our Privacy Policy.

Do you store my data on any server?

No personal data. There are no accounts. Your scan history and settings live exclusively on your device. The analysis backend processes each image transiently and stores nothing about you. If you uninstall the App, your local history is erased with it.

Do you track me or show ads?

No. Poison Check has no tracking, no advertising, and no analytics SDKs. We do not sell or share your data. The App is not linked to any advertising identifier.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay anything?

No. Poison Check is free forever. There are no In-App Purchases, no subscriptions, and no ads. Every feature is unlocked from the first launch.

Where do the risk ratings come from?

The analysis references recognized public scientific and regulatory bodies — including IARC, NIH, FDA, EFSA, WHO, and EWG — along with the NOVA food-processing classification. Each flag is meant to be informational, with a source you can check.

Can I rely on this for medical or allergy decisions?

No. Poison Check is for educational awareness, not medical advice. The analysis is informational and may be incomplete or imperfect. Always consult a healthcare professional about your diet, allergies, sensitivities, or health. Never disregard professional advice because of something shown in the App.

An ingredient analysis looks wrong — what should I do?

Label text can occasionally be misread, and ingredient databases evolve. Re-scan with better lighting first. If the result still looks incorrect, email christian@irack.mx with the product name and a photo so we can look into it.

Which devices are supported?

Poison Check requires iOS 17.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone. A camera is required to scan labels.

Can I suggest a new feature?
