1. Who we are

Breadcrumb (hereinafter, "the App") is developed and operated by Ingeniería.dev, led by Chris Flores (hereinafter, "we", "the Developer").

2. What data we collect

None. "Collect" here means what it means on the App Store privacy label: data that leaves your device and reaches us or a third party. Nothing does. Breadcrumb was built with privacy by default. The App:

• Does not require registration or an account, and has no way to create one
• Does not ask for your email, name, phone number, or any personally identifiable information
• Does not access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, calendar, or health data
• Does not read from or write to HealthKit
• Uses your location and your step count only on your device — neither is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else (see Section 3)
• Does not include any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash reporting
• Does not send telemetry or usage metrics to any server — we do not operate one
• Does not use iCloud, CloudKit, or any other cloud synchronization
• Makes no network requests at all. The App contains no networking code (see Section 5)

3. Location and motion access

Breadcrumb uses two sensitive permissions — Location and Motion & Fitness — because a trail cannot be recorded without knowing where you walked. Both are processed entirely on your device, and neither is transmitted anywhere.

3.1 Location

The App requests Location access, including the "Always" option, and declares the location background mode.

• Location is read only while you are recording a trail or following one back. When no trail is active, the App does not read your location at all.
• Each fix becomes a "crumb" — a point saved roughly every ten metres along your path — written only to the App's local database on your iPhone.
• The App asks for "Always" access and uses the location background mode for one reason: so recording keeps working when your phone is locked and in your pocket, which is precisely where a phone lives while you walk. Without it, iOS would suspend the App and the trail back would be cut short at the moment you stopped looking at the screen. "Always" is not used to observe you when you are not recording.
• Location data is never transmitted, uploaded, streamed, or shared — not with us and not with any third party. The App has no server, no analytics, and no networking code of any kind.
• GPS reception is a one-way process: your iPhone listens to satellite signals. Nothing about your position is broadcast back by the act of receiving a fix, which is why the App works with no cellular coverage and in airplane mode.
• You can revoke or downgrade this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Breadcrumb. With it revoked the App cannot record or retrace a trail, and it will say so rather than failing silently.

3.2 Motion & Fitness

The App requests access to Motion & Fitness to read your step count.

• Your step count is used for a single purpose: estimating how far you have moved when the GPS signal is lost, which happens routinely under dense tree cover. Combined with the compass heading, it lets the App keep laying down an approximate trail instead of leaving a blank stretch.
• Motion readings are captured and processed exclusively on your device using Apple's CoreMotion framework.
• Raw sensor samples are never stored. They are consumed as they arrive to advance the estimate, and only the resulting crumb positions are written to disk.
• Motion data is never transmitted, uploaded, or shared with anyone.
• Crumbs produced this way are stored with a flag marking them as estimated, and the App shows them as such, so you always know which parts of a trail are measured and which are inferred.
• You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness. The App still records trails from GPS alone; it simply loses the ability to bridge the gaps under cover.

3.3 Compass

The App reads the device's magnetometer (compass) to know which way you are facing, so the return arrow can point correctly and so estimated crumbs have a direction. The compass requires no permission under iOS, produces no personally identifiable information, and its readings are used in memory and never transmitted.

4. What is stored on your device

The App stores locally (using SwiftData, in a database file private to the App) only what is needed to record a trail and lead you back along it:

That is the complete list. No identifier of you, your device, or your Apple Account is stored. This data is never sent to the Developer's servers — there are none. Your trails are kept until you delete them yourself; deleting a trail removes it and all of its crumbs and markers permanently, and deleting the App removes everything at once.

5. External services

Breadcrumb uses no external services of any kind. The App's code makes no network requests: it has no backend, no cloud sync, no map tile provider, no analytics provider, no advertising network, and no crash reporter. There are no third-party SDKs in the App.

The App works fully offline by design, including in airplane mode and in places with no cellular coverage — which is the situation it was built for. The trail you see on screen is drawn by the App from your own recorded crumbs, not loaded from a map server.

6. System permissions

Breadcrumb requests only the permissions it actually uses:

• Location (While Using the App, then Always) — required. Used only while recording or retracing a trail, to record and follow your path. "Always" and the location background mode exist so recording survives a locked, pocketed phone. Location data never leaves the device.
• Motion & Fitness — used to estimate your position from your step count when the GPS signal is blocked. Motion data never leaves the device.

The App does not request access to: camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, reminders, photos, media library, Bluetooth, local network, notifications, Siri, speech recognition, Face ID, health data, or HealthKit. It does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.

7. Marketing and advertising

The App displays no ads. We do not collect data for remarketing, profiling, segmentation, behavioral analysis, or any promotional purpose. We do not participate in ad networks, and we do not sell information to third parties. The App never requests App Tracking Transparency permission because it performs no tracking of any kind.

8. Minors

The App is rated 4+. Because the App requires no registration and collects no data, it complies with COPPA (US), LGPD Infantil (Brazil), and GDPR-K (EU) by design.

9. User rights (GDPR, CCPA, LFPDPPP, LGPD)

Even though we collect no data, the following rights are guaranteed by design:

• Right to access: Every trail you have recorded lives on your device and is visible in the App's trail list.
• Right to rectification: You can rename or delete any trail and change any preference at any time.
• Right to erasure: Deleting a trail removes it, its crumbs, and its markers permanently. Uninstalling the App deletes everything. There is no account to close, because none is ever created.
• Right to portability: Not applicable — no data exists on external servers.
• Right not to be subject to automated decisions: The App estimates positions using on-device signal processing, but no decision affecting legal rights, employment, credit, or insurance is made based on this data.

10. Safety context

Breadcrumb is a consumer outdoor utility, not a survival, rescue, or navigation instrument. The positions it records and the direction it points are estimates produced on your device from consumer-grade GPS and motion sensors, and their accuracy varies with satellite reception, tree cover, terrain, and battery. The App does not contact emergency services and has no ability to do so, because it has no network access. Do not treat it as a substitute for a map, a compass, a charged phone, or telling someone where you are going.

11. Security

Local data is stored inside the iOS sandbox, in a database file private to the App, protected by the operating system and by device-level disk encryption (Apple's Data Protection API). The App's database is inaccessible to other apps on the device.

12. International transfers

We do not perform international transfers of personal data because we do not store personal data on any server. Your trails never leave your device.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or to applicable law. The current version will always be published at this URL, along with the date of the last update. Material changes will also be announced inside the App.

14. Governing law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the United Mexican States, in particular the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP). Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Mexico City.
