Umbral Tales (shown as "Umbral" on your Home Screen; hereinafter, "Umbral" or "the App") is an iPhone reading app with a library of ten original short novels of fiction, about 15 minutes each, in four categories: esoterica, mysteries, shamanism and healers. Every story and every cover was imagined with artificial intelligence, which the App states openly with the label "Fiction imagined by AI". The books ship inside the App: nothing is generated on the device and no content is downloaded. The reader remembers the exact paragraph where you stopped in each book, shows the minutes left, and offers five letter sizes and a night mode. Three books are free; Unlock All opens the seven premium books and the books added in future updates. The App is available in Spanish and English, and requires no account or login.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Umbral on iOS devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and to Apple's Standard EULA.
Umbral is a free download. The free version includes three complete books — one esoterica, one mystery and one healer story — with every reader feature: exact progress, minutes left, letter size and night mode. There is no advertising, no subscription, and no time limit.
Unlock All (product ID dev.ingenieria.umbraltales.unlockall) is an optional, non-consumable In-App Purchase for a one-time price of $2.99 USD (pricing may vary per country according to the Apple App Store price tiers). It opens the seven premium books and every new book that arrives with a future update of the App, at no extra cost. We may add books over time, but we do not promise a number of books or a release schedule. Pay once, keep forever: it does not expire and does not renew.
The purchase is processed exclusively by Apple through your Apple ID using StoreKit. Apple acts as the payment processor; we never have access to your payment card, billing address, or any other payment data. The price is always shown on the purchase screen before you confirm.
Because Unlock All is a one-time transaction, there is nothing to cancel. You will not be billed again. The App offers no subscriptions and has no billing cycle.
If you reinstall the App, or install it on another iPhone signed into the same Apple ID, open the Library, tap the Aa button to open Reading Settings, and tap Restore Purchases in the Purchases section — or tap Restore Purchases on the Unlock All screen. The App asks Apple for your purchase and unlocks the premium books again at no cost.
Unlock All supports Family Sharing. If you have Family Sharing enabled on your Apple ID, members of your family group can read the premium books on their own iPhone without paying again. Configure Family Sharing in Settings → [your name] → Family Sharing or follow Apple's guide: support.apple.com/en-us/108380.
All refunds are handled by Apple, not by the Developer. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, locate the Umbral Tales purchase, and follow the refund flow. Apple applies its own refund policies. If a refund is granted, the premium books are locked again; your reading progress stays on your iPhone.

Umbral does not require you to create an account or sign up. The App works immediately after installation without any login, email, or personal identifier. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to an account with us.

In short: your reading progress and settings live on your device; the App requests no system permissions; purchases are processed by Apple; and the App measures how it is used with our own first-party analytics — including which book is opened or finished, never its text or your place in it — which is never linked to your identity.
Every story in Umbral is a work of fiction created with artificial intelligence. The characters, events and places as described are invented, and any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or to actual events is coincidental. Esoteric, shamanic and healing traditions of Latin America appear only as literary inspiration: the practices portrayed in the books are fictionalized and are not presented as real or as accurate descriptions of any culture or community.
Remedies, rituals, divination (such as tarot or astrology), visions and healings that appear in the stories are story elements only. Nothing in the App is medical, health, psychological, spiritual, religious, legal, or financial advice, and nothing in it should be followed, tried, or relied upon. For any health concern, consult a licensed medical professional. Because the content was generated with AI, it may contain inaccuracies about places, history, or customs; the App is not a reference work.
Some stories deal with the supernatural, suspense, loss and death. If you are sensitive to these themes, read the synopsis on each book's page before opening it.
Umbral, its code, design, interface, icon, books, covers, text, and brand are owned by or licensed to Ingeniería.dev and are protected by Mexican and international intellectual property laws to the extent applicable. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you — only a license to use the App and read its books within it.
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without any express or implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of content, or uninterrupted operation, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss arising from your use of or inability to use the App, or from acting on anything described in its stories. The Developer's aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App and its In-App Purchase, or USD $50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under the laws of your country of residence.
You agree to indemnify and hold the Developer harmless from any claims arising from: (a) your use of the App in violation of these Terms, or (b) your violation of third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms. You may terminate this license at any time by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling does not cancel or refund a completed purchase; it stays on your Apple ID and can be restored.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be published at this URL, along with the date of the update. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes your acceptance. Material changes will also be announced inside the App.
Apple Inc. is not a party to this agreement and is not responsible for the App or its content. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Apple's Standard EULA, the terms more restrictive and applicable to Apple under the App Store Review Guidelines shall prevail.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of Mexico City, and both parties expressly waive any other jurisdiction that might otherwise apply based on current or future domicile, to the extent permitted by the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
