Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Look & Talk (hereinafter, "the App") is developed and operated by Ingeniería.dev, led by Chris Flores (hereinafter, "we", "the Developer").

2. What data we collect

None. Look & Talk was built privacy-first for the blind and low-vision community. The App:

• Does not require registration or an account
• Does not ask for your email, name, phone number, or any personally identifiable information
• Does not access your contacts, location, calendar, microphone, or health data
• Does not include any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash reporting
• Does not call any third-party AI provider (no OpenAI, no Anthropic, no Google, no Azure, no AWS — all recognition happens on-device)
• Does not send telemetry or usage metrics to any server we control
• Does not make any network requests for its core features

3. Camera and Photo Library access

Look & Talk requests access to the camera and the Photo Library because they are required to read printed text, describe a scene, identify a color, or magnify content. These are the only sensitive permissions the App uses.

• Camera frames are captured and processed exclusively on your device using Apple's AVFoundation, Vision, and FoundationModels frameworks.
• Imported photos from your library are read locally; the App requests the minimum scope required to fulfill your action and never reads photos you did not select.
• Camera frames and photos are never transmitted, uploaded, or streamed to any server — ours or a third party's.
• The App does not retain camera frames after a recognition. Only the recognized text, scene description, or color label is saved (locally) if you keep it in History.
• While the camera is active, iOS displays the green camera indicator in the status bar so you always know it is in use.

4. What is stored on your device

The App stores locally (using SwiftData and the iOS sandbox) only what is needed to power History and remember your settings:

This data is never sent to the Developer's servers. If you delete the App, all of this information is removed with it. You can also clear History at any time from inside the App.

5. External services

Look & Talk does not use any external services. The App does not make network requests. It has no backend, no cloud sync, no analytics provider, no advertising network, no crash reporter, and no third-party AI provider. All artificial intelligence runs on-device using Apple Vision and Apple Foundation Models.

6. System permissions

Look & Talk requests only the permissions it actually needs:

• Camera — required. Used to read printed text, describe scenes, magnify content, and detect colors. Frames are processed on-device and never transmitted.
• Photo Library — optional. Used only when you pick a photo to run OCR or scene description on. Only the photo you pick is read; the App does not browse your library in the background.

The App does not request access to: location, microphone, contacts, calendar, reminders, Bluetooth, local network, health data, HealthKit, motion, or speech recognition.

7. Marketing and advertising

The App displays no ads. We do not collect data for remarketing, profiling, segmentation, behavioral analysis, or any promotional purpose. We do not participate in ad networks, and we do not sell information to third parties.

8. Minors

The App is rated 4+. Because Look & Talk requires no registration and collects no data, it complies with COPPA (US), LGPD Infantil (Brazil), and GDPR-K (EU) by design. The App is suitable for users of any age, including blind and low-vision children using their own iPhone with parental supervision.

9. User rights (GDPR, CCPA, LFPDPPP, LGPD)

Even though we collect no data, the following rights are guaranteed by design:

• Right to access: All your History entries live on your device and are accessible from within the App.
• Right to rectification: You can edit or delete any History entry and change any preference at any time.
• Right to erasure: Deleting an entry removes it from your device. Clearing History or uninstalling the App deletes everything.
• Right to portability: Not applicable — no data exists on external servers.
• Right not to be subject to automated decisions: The App performs OCR, scene description, and color recognition using Apple's on-device ML, but no decision affecting legal rights, employment, credit, insurance, or medical care is made based on this data.

10. Accessibility and assistive context

Look & Talk is an assistive tool designed for blind and low-vision users. Recognized text, scene descriptions, magnification, and color identification are produced by Apple's on-device Vision and Foundation Models frameworks. They are not guaranteed to be perfectly accurate in every lighting condition, language, font, or context.

For critical decisions — reading a medication label, signing a legal document, identifying a hazard, navigating traffic — please verify the result with a sighted assistant, a certified orientation and mobility specialist, or a clinical tool. Look & Talk is not a medical device, a navigation device, or a safety device.

11. Security

Local data is stored inside the iOS sandbox, protected by the operating system and by device-level disk encryption (Apple's Data Protection API). History entries are written with the default protection class and are inaccessible to other apps on the device.

12. International transfers

We do not perform international transfers of personal data because we do not store personal data on any server. No data leaves your device.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or to applicable law. The current version will always be published at this URL, along with the date of the last update. Material changes will also be announced inside the App.

14. Governing law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the United Mexican States, in particular the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP). Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Mexico City.
