The free version includes Code Rain, Blocks and Aurora. Unlock All adds Smoke, Ink, Ripples, Neon, Rain on Glass, Constellation, Flip, Monolith and Orbits.
Open Settings and, under Rotation, turn on Change effect automatically, then choose Every 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. In the free version Lumen rotates through the 3 included effects; with Unlock All, through all 12. Rotation pauses while Settings is open.
Open Settings and, under Time, set Time format to System (follows your iPhone), 12-hour or 24-hour, and turn Show seconds on or off.
Open Settings and use the switches under On screen: Date, Battery (level and whether it is charging) and Weather (temperature and condition from Apple Weather). When the battery is at 20% or less and unplugged, the clock suggests connecting the charger.
The weather is provided by Apple Weather. You can see its data sources in Settings → Weather data sources.
Dim at night is on by default (Settings → Screen). From 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the clock lowers its brightness so it won't light up the room, fading in and out over half an hour. Turn the switch off to keep full brightness all night.
iOS doesn't let apps turn on Do Not Disturb for you, but it only takes a moment:
Tip: in the Shortcuts app you can create an automation that turns on Do Not Disturb when you connect the charger. You'll find these steps any time in Settings → How to turn on Do Not Disturb.
Lumen fills the screen in portrait and in both landscape orientations, following the way your iPhone is placed. If it doesn't rotate, check that Portrait Orientation Lock is off in Control Center.
Open Settings → About and use the Language selector to choose English, Español or Português (Brasil). The change applies across the whole App.
The App is a free download with three effects and every clock feature. Unlock All is an optional, one-time In-App Purchase of $2.99 USD (prices vary by country) that adds the other nine effects. No subscriptions, no ads.
The App asks Apple for your purchase and unlocks every effect again at no cost. Once restored, the section shows All effects unlocked. If someone in your family group must approve purchases (Ask to Buy), the effects unlock as soon as the purchase is approved.
Refunds are decided and processed by Apple, not by the developer. If a refund is granted, the nine Unlock All effects are locked again and the clock returns to Code Rain; your other preferences are kept.
Your payment method belongs to your Apple ID. Update it in Settings → [your name] → Payment & Shipping or at account.apple.com. Apple's guide: support.apple.com/en-us/118429.
Unlock All supports Family Sharing. Members of your family group can restore it on their own iPhone without paying again. Set it up in Settings → [your name] → Family Sharing; Apple's guide: support.apple.com/en-us/108380.
No. Unlock All is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews and you will never be charged again for it.
No. Lumen works completely without registration. No email, no password, no sign-in. Open the App and the clock is there.
Your personal content, no. Your preferences are stored only on your iPhone, and the App does not use iCloud. To help us improve the App, it sends anonymous usage and diagnostics data to our own first-party analytics service. That data is never linked to your identity — there is no account and no user profile. Purchases are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. See our Privacy Policy.
Only to show the weather. Lumen asks for approximate location, only while you use the App, and sends that approximate coordinate to Apple Weather to get the current temperature. It never stores your location and never sends it to us. If you decline, the weather corner stays hidden and the clock works exactly the same.
Which screens are opened and a few actions (which effect you switch to and whether by swipe or by rotation, the corners you turn on or off, the rotation interval, whether the Unlock All screen was opened or a purchase went through, and the language you choose), App and iOS versions, approximate country and city, and crash and performance reports. It runs on our own server, it is never sold or shared, it is never used for advertising, and it is kept for up to 13 months. It never includes your name, email, location coordinates, the weather, your battery level or payment details. To ask for deletion, email [email protected].
A desk clock has to stay visible, so while Lumen is open in the foreground it keeps the screen from turning off automatically. As soon as you leave the App or lock the iPhone, your normal Auto-Lock setting applies again.
A screen that stays on uses battery, so we recommend keeping your iPhone on its charger while Lumen is open. To care for OLED screens, the clock shifts slowly to a new spot every two minutes and dims from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.; when the iPhone gets warm, Lumen lowers its animation rate or shows a still frame. These measures reduce the risk of image retention but cannot eliminate it completely.
No. Lumen is a clock to look at: it has no alarms or sounds. Use the Clock app on your iPhone for alarms.
Yes. The clock and every effect work without an internet connection. The weather needs a connection to update, and buying or restoring Unlock All needs one to reach the App Store.
Any iPhone running iOS 26 or later. The App is iPhone-only; iPad is not supported at this time.
Email [email protected] and include:
Of course. Email [email protected] and tell us what would make your clock better — including ideas for new effects. Every idea is read, and the most requested ones shape the next updates.
Uninstall the App. Everything it stored on your device — preferences, the last weather reading and the random installation identifier — is permanently removed. There is no account to close. Your Unlock All purchase stays on your Apple ID and can be restored later. Anonymous analytics data is deleted automatically after 13 months, or sooner if you ask us by email.
