This agreement is entered into between you (the end user) and Ingeniería.dev, operated by Christian Irack, with its registered address at Av. Javier Barros Sierra 495, Santa Fe Lomas de Santa Fe Zedec Santa Fé, Álvaro Obregón 01219, Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico. Contact: [email protected].
Glass Colony (shown as "Formicarium" on your Home Screen; hereinafter, "Glass Colony" or "the App") is an iPhone app that shows a living, pixel-art formicarium: a simulated ant colony behind glass that digs its own tunnels and chambers, raises its brood, forages and stores food, and keeps living while the App is closed (when you return, the App catches up on up to 7 colony days). It is an educational ambient app, not a game: there are no points, levels or coins. You can feed the colony, follow one ant with a magnifier, read more than 40 "Did you know?" cards with their sources, switch to red light at night, keep a journal of milestones and share a capture. The black garden ant with garden soil or colored sand is free; the Complete Collection adds more species and substrates. The App is available in English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, and requires no account or login.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Glass Colony on iOS devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and to Apple's Standard EULA.
Glass Colony is a free download. The free version includes the black garden ant on garden soil or colored sand, with every way to watch it: feeding, the magnifier, the "Did you know?" cards, red light, the journal and sharing. There is no advertising, no subscription, and no time limit.
Complete Collection (product ID dev.ingenieria.formicarium.allspecies) is an optional, non-consumable In-App Purchase for a one-time price of $3.99 USD (pricing may vary per country according to the Apple App Store price tiers). It adds three species — the harvester ant, the leafcutter ant and the honeypot ant — and two substrates — edible blue gel and a plaster nest — plus every species added in a future update of the App, at no extra cost. We may add species over time, but we do not promise a number of species or a release schedule. Pay once, keep forever: it does not expire and does not renew.
The purchase is processed exclusively by Apple through your Apple ID using StoreKit. Apple acts as the payment processor; we never have access to your payment card, billing address, or any other payment data. The price is always shown on the purchase screen before you confirm.
Because the Complete Collection is a one-time transaction, there is nothing to cancel. You will not be billed again. The App offers no subscriptions and has no billing cycle.
If you reinstall the App, or install it on another iPhone signed into the same Apple ID, tap the colony in the Colony tab to show the controls, open Settings and tap Restore purchase — or tap Restore purchase on the Complete Collection screen. The App asks Apple for your purchase and unlocks the premium species and substrates again at no cost.
The Complete Collection supports Family Sharing. If you have Family Sharing enabled on your Apple ID, members of your family group can use the premium species and substrates on their own iPhone without paying again. Configure Family Sharing in Settings → [your name] → Family Sharing or follow Apple's guide: support.apple.com/en-us/108380.
All refunds are handled by Apple, not by the Developer. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, locate the Glass Colony purchase, and follow the refund flow. Apple applies its own refund policies. If a refund is granted, new colonies can no longer use the premium species and substrates.
Your Apple ID payment method is managed at account.apple.com or in Settings → [your name] → Payment & Shipping. Apple's guide: support.apple.com/en-us/118429.
Glass Colony does not require you to create an account or sign up. The App works immediately after installation without any login, email, or personal identifier. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to an account with us.
See our Privacy Policy. In short: your colony, its name, its journal and your settings live on your device; the App requests no system permissions; purchases are processed by Apple; and the App measures how it is used with our own first-party analytics — never your colony's name — which is never linked to your identity.
The colony in Glass Colony is a simplified computer simulation inspired by the behavior of real ants. Its digging, foraging, growth and timing are approximations designed to be watched and to teach; they are not a scientific model and do not predict how any real colony behaves. No live animals are involved.
The "Did you know?" cards summarize published sources, which each card names, and may simplify them. They are general educational information, not professional, scientific, veterinary, or pest-control advice. The App is not a guide to collecting, buying, keeping, moving, or releasing live ants: many countries and regions regulate or prohibit keeping or transporting certain species, including some shown in the App. If you decide to keep a real colony, check the laws where you live.
The App keeps the screen on while it is open so you can watch the colony. This uses more battery, and leaving any screen on for long periods can contribute to wear on some displays. The App dims the image and shifts it slightly over time to reduce this, but how long you leave it on is your choice.
Glass Colony, its code, design, interface, icon, artwork, facts as written, and brand are owned by or licensed to Ingeniería.dev and are protected by Mexican and international intellectual property laws to the extent applicable. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you — only a license to use the App. Third-party publications cited as sources belong to their respective authors and publishers.
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without any express or implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of content, or uninterrupted operation, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss arising from your use of or inability to use the App, the loss of a colony or its journal, or from acting on anything described in the App. The Developer's aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App and its In-App Purchase, or USD $50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under the laws of your country of residence.
You agree to indemnify and hold the Developer harmless from any claims arising from: (a) your use of the App in violation of these Terms, or (b) your violation of third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms. You may terminate this license at any time by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling removes your colony and its journal from your iPhone, but it does not cancel or refund a completed purchase; it stays on your Apple ID and can be restored.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be published at this URL, along with the date of the update. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes your acceptance. Material changes will also be announced inside the App.
Apple Inc. is not a party to this agreement and is not responsible for the App or its content. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Apple's Standard EULA, the terms more restrictive and applicable to Apple under the App Store Review Guidelines shall prevail.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of Mexico City, and both parties expressly waive any other jurisdiction that might otherwise apply based on current or future domicile, to the extent permitted by the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
